DIY Bedazzled

Oh how I love the bejeweling and the bedazzling of the holy-days!  I love it so much that I decided to DIY it.  Now this tutorial is quite simple but you will need to be well versed with basic hand sewing skills, and if you’re not, grab a needle and thread and I’ll help you from there.

To start, you’ll need a collared shirt.  Could be a women's shirt, could be men's – whatever floats your boat.  Size and or color are not important, that’s all up to you my friend.  Next you’ll need scissors, thread, a needle and various beads as shown here.  You can purchase similar beads at your local fabric store.

Step 1: Double thread your needle and knot it at the end.  Your thread should be about 4 inches long.

Step 2: You want to be sure to begin your first stitch underneath the collar to hide your thread knot.  In order to achieve the expanding detail of the beads displayed above and below, start your stitch at the tip/corner of your collar.

Step 3: Once you’ve thread through the top of your collar and the needle is peaking, thread your bead through the needle.

Step 4: Stitch your next seam right at the beginning of the previous bead, pull your needle through the bottom of your collar and prepare to repeat step 3.

Step 5: Continue until your first row of beads is achieved.  To close your stitch take your extra thread and knot it 2 to 3 times making sure the knot is closest to the base of the shirt.  Be sure to close your stitch on the backside of your collar, you don’t want to expose your handy work!

Step 6: Create a new row and repeat steps 1-6.

Voila!  Holy-Day Bedazzlement for your viewing pleasure.  If you have any questions feel free to email me at aakanni5@gmail!
